Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the benefits of football scholarship with volunteerism in the community. One of the first things he did is to help his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on a Eufala farm. The second football was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in the entire nation. Lee Roy won two championships, and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given a scholarship for the third year in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week while he attended college. Then he settled in Tampa after college, was a member of the Buccaneers for nine seasons and made three times all-pro. The business venture he started began. By 1988, he became an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's 10 outstanding young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds when he played college football. He was a captain in 1975. led the team. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as the Associate Director of Sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
