In the height of Despacito's chart-topping success in 2017, 19 songs mainly made in Spanish reached at the very top of 100. This number rose to 41 by 2020. Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito came out in the year 2017. Then, numerous popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna worked with Maluma for the release of Medellin. The mainstreaming of reggaeton was an issue for certain performers during the year the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, determined to maintain the style.
