April Ross

April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball athletes to capture medals at more than one Olympics. Alix klineman, who is competing for the first time in Tokyo's Olympics, will try to earn her third gold medal. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. Since she's 39 years old and has a long way to go, this could be her last shot. Nevertheless, she remains convinced of winning top awards. Ross stated via NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even playing well, I think we could be able to win gold." So I'm going to take a little bit of luck also. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents and sister lived there. In Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many sports. In her time as a college athlete she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. She stood out however at this level. Her college biography states that she played outside of the hitter, middle blocker, and setter throughout her volleyball time at high school. Her efforts were recognized in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Player of the Year. Her skills in volleyball earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in the year 2000. Ross and Klineman formed the partnership in 2017, however, Ross had been a beach-scene player for years prior to. The fact is, she's won multiple big tournaments as well as one of her partners was an all-star volleyball player. From 2007 until 2013 she played by Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the 2009 World Championships. The duo eventually captured an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio to beat for the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. In 2016, the duo won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross participated in the Trojans at USC during her college after graduating from high school. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000 as a young freshman. She also helped the Trojans to make it to into the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal loss in her sophomore, yet was able to achieve the All-American award. In her last two seasons with the Trojans team, she led them to a national title every time. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the top female volleyball player at a collegiate level in the United States through the Honda Sports Award. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. However, she continues to remember her deceased parent close and close. Margie, on the beach as well as in her everyday life, inspires her.
